Where to Stay

There are lots of great places to stay in and around Avignon, from charming hotels to cozy rental properties. We’ve put together a few recommendations below to help with your planning.

If you’re not planning to rent a car, we suggest staying in or near the city center—you’ll be able to walk to restaurants, shops, and historic spots, and it’s also where most tours and day trips depart from.

If you'd rather be out among the vineyards, lavender fields, and hilltop villages, the countryside has some beautiful options too. Just keep in mind you’ll definitely need a rental car to get around out there.

Le Bristol

Rooms at Hôtel Le Bristol are now available to book directly. This is the hotel we recommend thanks to its reasonable prices and its incredibly convenient location—right next to the Avignon Centre train station and a short walk from many of the city’s main attractions. Le Bristol is also great for families, with triple and quadruple rooms that make traveling with kids much easier.

Since room blocks aren’t common in France, we don’t have a group rate, but you’re welcome to book any available room through the hotel. Because our wedding falls during lavender season and just before the Avignon Festival, hotels in Avignon tend to fill up quickly—so we highly recommend booking early.

If you prefer to stay somewhere else, two wonderful alternatives just a short walk from Le Bristol are Garlande Hôtel Avignon Centre and Hotel De Cambis. You’re welcome to stay wherever you like—just keep in mind that shuttles will depart from the area around Le Bristol.

Rental Properties

If you’re extending your trip or traveling with a group and looking for a bit more space, consider renting an apartment, a mas, or a gîte—traditional countryside homes that offer a relaxed, local experience. We’ve linked a few of our favorites below, listed from smallest to largest.

Please note that many of these properties have minimum stay requirements of 6 or 7 nights, so depending on your itinerary, some may not be a fit. Also, since June is peak lavender season in Provence, rentals tend to book up early, so we recommend securing your accommodations well in advance.
